When Will the Rapture Happen?

THE TIMING OF THE RAPTURE

In 2 Thessalonians 2, the timing of the Rapture pretty clear, especially if you add Matthew 24 into the mix. Scripture seems to say very clearly that we will not be gathered together unto Him until the man of sin is revealed, and I was always under the impression that we wouldn't know who the antichrist was until he commits the abomination of desolation. That is the moment he is revealed. When you read Matthew 24 it says the abomination of desolation happens, then we are warned about false Christs, and told "if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not." Then the sun and moon are darkened, then the sign of the Son of Man appears, then there is a trumpet call and we are gathered to Him. 

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Matthew 24:15-31
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place*,* (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

This is clearly describing the Rapture in both passages. Our "gathering together unto Him". They even use the word gather both times in the KJV. In order for the abomination of desolation to be witnessed by us, we will have to see the third temple built, which we will soon. When you see that Third Temple start being built, you should think about going part time at your job and maybe making a "THE END IS NIGH!" sign.

The Book of Daniel’s prophetic outline of the last 7 years on earth begin with the Antichrist confirming a covenant with the many for 7 years (one week). The middle of this week is marked by Israel’s sacrifice and oblation to cease, which is the restored temple worship in the Third Temple. In Revelation 11, John is told to measure that very Temple.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Revelation 11
And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months (1260 days). And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days (1260 days), clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (Jerusalem)

And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half (On the internet and TV), and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another (Amazon); because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

So the Two Witnesses prophesy for 1260 days in the Holy City. Why there? It would make sense that they would be propesying at the newly built Temple, or perhaps even during its construction. Then they are killed, and their bodies lie in the street for 3 and a half days, after which they are resurrected in full view of everyone, and taken to heaven as God says “Come up hither”. After that, the seventh trumpet sounds. We are told in 1 Corinthians 15 regarding the rapture:

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

There are then 1260 more days after this event since it happens in the middle of the antichrist’s reign. During this time, the Wrath of God is accomplished and the Bowls of Revelation are poured out on the Earth. The 144,000 are sealed and saved through this, and when Jesus comes back with His saints, His feet touch the Mount of Olives where those 144,000 male virgin Jews are waiting, just like it says in the Book of Revelation.

Some people will argue that this “last trump” is not the 7th trumpet of Revelation because Paul’s readers would have no idea about the 7 trumpets of Revelation, since it had not been written yet, but Paul’s readers are also not participants in the rapture, being long dead. The instruction is obviously for us, here, in the last days. It could be the last trumpet blown at the Feast of Trumpets, or it could stand alone as The Last Trump by itself.

For a perspective on how soon the third temple will be built, they have everything they need except the ashes of a perfectly red cow. They have 5 perfectly red heiffers there in Israel now, being cared for by the Temple Institute. The Levite priests have been selected and trained, and they are just waiting until the cows are 2 until they can make the ashes.
